This client’s modern house was designed by Fred Shellabarger in 1974. Shellabarger was a Professor of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma from 1955- 1981 and was well-known for his excellent work.
We worked with the homeowners to design and install the last piece of their major home remodel: The courtyard. In keeping with the modern architecture of the house, we designed and built a modern courtyard outdoor living area. At the center of the space, we included durable, high-quality artificial turf along with a custom fire pit and water feature. Underground, we installed an intricate system with hundreds of feet of drainage to allow water to rapidly exit the courtyard. The landscape lighting system was designed and installed to illuminate the beautiful architecture of the home as well as the trees and walkways leading to the courtyard. For the patio, we used a salted concrete finish with artificial turf inlays.
The finished product resulted in a modern usable space for kids to play and for the family to entertain. Our design and install teams were able to maximize the outdoor area, enabling the homeowners to enjoy the space year-round! Working on such a historical home was a privilege for our team.

There are numerous interesting aspects of the property that we wanted to emphasize through the landscape. Trees planted near the house were specifically chosen for their ability to provide visual height. A concrete circular driveway was poured around the water feature to create a magnificent entrance suitable for such a stunning property.
The landscape lighting illuminated the house, allowing for nighttime enjoyment of the property’s beauty. Yuccas and other plants incorporated the Mediterranean flavor of the home into the landscape. The home’s new appearance is completed by the lush, new lawn!
This was a fun project in which we converted a basic backyard into a true backyard oasis. Prior to contacting us, this great couple never spent any time in their backyard so they wanted to add a basic swimming pool. Our design team was able to create a rendering within their budget that went far beyond their dreams of a basic pool.
We installed a free form, concrete pool featuring a spa with an overflow water feature. Surrounding the pool, we installed a salted concrete deck with artificial turf grass inlays. To extend their outdoor living area and make the most of the space available, we added a custom cedar pergola connected to the house featuring a fire-pit and seating area. We also added a small kitchen counter next their grill along with a custom TV cabinet. To complete the project, we added a small bed featuring landscaping and mortared stone edging.
